“Beda” means “Different” in Bahasa Indonesia

Different is Beda was founded with the vision of providing much-needed support and guidance to individuals who often face unique challenges in navigating mental health due to their neurodivergency, queer identity, and/or being a person of colour. Our founder, Bernadette, herself a neurodivergent, queer person of colour, recognised the lack of resources and understanding available to individuals like herself. With a focus on addressing mental health, neurodivergency, and diversity, Beda strives to support both individuals and organisations in creating a more inclusive and supportive environment

Meet Bernadette

A seasoned mental health professional with a formal ADHD diagnosis, Bernadette brings a unique perspective shaped by her Filipino heritage and upbringing in Jakarta, Indonesia. Now based in Australia, she understands the complexities of navigating diverse identities.Believing in the power of meaningful conversations and comprehensive training, Bernadette excels at turning challenging topics into relatable, actionable insights. She emphasizes that information must be accessible to be truly impactful.As the Engagement and Recovery Lead in mental health, Bernadette supports clients while providing supervision and training for support workers. Her expertise spans mental health and inclusive practices.
